Stockbridge Market

Stockbridge Market

After almost 2 weeks relaxing at home, I'm back to the reality of University.

Although I don't have any lectures, my exams do start next Monday so I'm currently in revision mode.

That said I've always found that I work best when I take time out for some me-time. It could literally be something as simple as a food shop or writing a blog post! As long as I can get to the end of the day and know that I've done something else that just revision.

And seeing as I'm going abroad for my third year, my revision "breaks" seem like the perfect chance to explore more of Edinburgh.

I'm living in a totally different part of the city compared to last year and it's made me realise that there's a lot more to Edinburgh than simply Arthur's Seat and Prince's Street.

So on Sunday, I wandered down to Stockbridge for its weekly market.

Despite my flat being less than a 15-minute walk away, it was the first time that I had been to Stockbridge, let alone it's market.

Stockbridge feels like a little village within a city.

Especially with the Water of Leith running through it.

The market was full of independent stalls selling lots of yummy things.

And I couldn't help but feel a bit peckish.

I've always felt that a long queue is generally a sign that something is good. So I queued for about 20 mins, like the true Brit I am, for some pork gyozas from a Japanese street food vendor.

Following the masses definitely proved to be a wise decision. The gyozas, with soy sauce and extra coriander were amazing!

The other reason for heading to Stockbridge was to find Circus Lane.

Simply because it's beautiful. And quite possibly my dream place to live.

Those who are close to me will know that I have a slight, okay fine, a massive obsession with Mews houses.

So it's no surprise that a street of Mews houses is my idea of heaven.

I don't know what it is but I've always had a thing for little houses. Whilst others dream of mansions, I imagine a little house on a cobbled lane (preferably with a mezzanine floor) - weird I know!

And to me, a Mews house is the perfect tiny home.

I wouldn't be surprised if one day you find me on Circus Lane with my very own Mews house!!
